A
two-star property recognized by Deptt. of Tourism, BANDHAVGARH JUNGLE LODGE
is walking distance form the Park’s main gate and is in the periphery if
the park. It has been developed on a theme of an Indian Village, Thus has combinations
of mud with thatched roof and an inner court yard. The estates meadows attracts
Deer and other animals which come soon after sunset. One can even take a convenient
walk in the reserve forest for Bird Watching as the place is flourishing with
fruiting. At night in the peace and tranquility of the night one can hear various
animals call such as alarm calls of the Deer from the Tiger and wonderful galaxy
of stars in the sky.
Accommodation
10 spacious twin bedded cosy and comfortable Cottages, one three room independent
cottage and two 4 room house, to make a total of 20 rooms all in a typical Indian
village theme have modern facilities including attached bath/shower running
hot and cold water shower, toilets and comfortable furniture.
Services
Room
The Lodge offers friendly and efficient rooms. 10 cottages, and six Suites
rooms, All equipped with twin beds with reading lights, writing table and
chairs, large luggage rack, Privates facilities with hot and cold running
water.
Dinning and Public Areas
A large common room serves as dinning areas which seats 40, there is also a
friendly open verandah to be able to dine under the stars or breakfast in soothing
warm winter sun.
One can browse through books in the library or just study the numerous information
panels on the boards.
The Courtyard
Is an open area in center of the Lodge surrounded by flowers and fluttering
butterflies. One can relax in get a tan or in the evening participate in the
Discussion on conservation issues around campfire. Also it provide ideal set
up for out star gazing in the evening.
There are some traditional swings if one just wants to relax or read a book.
Gole Ghar
A circular sit out area towards the forest which becomes ideal are to enjoy
breakfast, evening snack or a private group discussion if one wishes. During
the day it is also ideal hide ( Blind) for observing and photographing birds
and animals like Jungle cat, mongoose, Deer, Porcupine and wild bore that come
on their schedule for the two waterholes.
The Maidan
Most of the land is left wild with lush wild grass to attract and make Jungle
inhabitants comfortable. There is however interspersed with some fruit trees
that attract our Jungle neighbors.
Sports and TV
The lodge is equipped with sport facilities of Volleyball and Badminton and
indoor games such as Chess. There is TV and Video and a library of Wildlife
films or to play your own video short in the Jungle and have some interesting
fun by sharing with others. All this are available on request.
Solar Energy
To increase our dependence on the direct energy sources we have tried to use
the power of sun god to provide us the energy and help save the worlds natural
environment.
Solar water heaters - Our Hot water system comes out of the two efficient
solar water heaters which provide reliable and enough supply.
Solar cooking ( Photo) - Some part of the cooking for our Guest is done
in two different types of Solar cookers. This helps minimize energy use and
also food cooked is health and tasty. Our guest can ask for cooking lessons
for solar cooking.
Wormy - Composting
To make efficient and hygienic disposal of organic waste of our lodge we are
using process of decomposition by worms which is efficient, odorless and provides
us with rich organic fertilizers for our organic farming on site.
Astronomy
As sun sets and galaxy of stars covers the canopy we begin our Star Gazing session.
After a short introduction of Stars and constellations an opportunity to see
through telescope the planets so close as never seen before by most guest. Young
and old all will enjoy the exhilarating experience.
Bird Watching
We organize Bird watching excursions around the Lodge during the day for those
energetic and would wants active programs.
Naturalist
Our resident Naturalist Vivek Sharma oversees most of our environment sensitive
program and conducts safaris to national Park , Birding excursion around our
wild lands, village excursions, Astronomical session and discusses with you
the days rap up of the activities and observations and answer your questions.
He is actively involved with the conservation activities sponsored by the
Lodge through Tiger Trust.
